This lesson was completed with the Kindergarten class at the Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center. In the classroom we looked at two photos of Miró and learned some of the facts of his life. We then watched the first 1:21 of the first video so the students could see Miró in action and hear others discussing his work. We then watched the second video, an animation of Miró's "The Garden." We looked at several examples of his work and discussed how his style is classified as Surrealism. We played the "Roll-a-Miró" game (found on Pinterest) which allowed the students to create their own Miró inspired artwork. Later that day we visited the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden to view the painting "Woman Before an Eclipse With Her Hair Disheveled by the Wind" and the sculpture "Lunar Bird."
